Safety
Please make sure to take off your name badge and congress bag when you go sightseeing in Copenhagen. Wearing the name and bag identifies you as a tourist, which may attract pickpockets.

Health

There is a 24-hour pharmacy next to the congress venue.

When visiting Copenhagen as a citizen of an EU country, you are covered by public health insurance within the limits agreed upon between your own country and the Danish authorities.

Also, as a temporary foreign visitor, you are entitled to free medical treatment in hospitals and emergency wards if you are taken ill or have an accident, provided that you have not travelled to Denmark with the intention of obtaining treatment and are physically unable to return to your own country.

If you are a citizen of a non EU country, you should ensure that you have adequate health insurance. Check with your travel agency or your insurance company.

Call (+45) 112 for life threatening emergencies and ask for the police, fire department or ambulance service.

Call (+45) 1813 for injuries or sudden illness and speak to a nurse or doctor, or to go to a hospital emergency department. Always call (+45) 1813 before going to a hospital emergency department. They will not admit you otherwise.

Call (+45) 114 for police when it is not an emergency.

Transportation
Copenhagen has an extensive and reliable network of public transportation. It includes buses, sailing harbor buses, trains and metro. For more info, please click HERE.

Voltage and plugs
Denmark, like most other European countries, has 220-volt AC, 50Hz current and uses two-pin continental plugs.

Name badges
Entrance to the conference area and to the various social events will be limited to badge holders only. You will collect your badge at the registration during the site visit at Chr. Hansen A/S in Avedoere on Wednesday 7 June. For those arriving Thursday, the registration will take place at the entrance of the congress venue Axelborg.

Banks, currency & credit card
The currency in Denmark is Danish Kroner (DKK). Most hotels, shops and taxis accept all major credit cards. Larger shops do also accept Euro. Automated cash machines, which you can use with your credit card, are available all over the city. Banks are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00, Thursday until 18:00.

Customs and VAT
Danish prices include 25 percent Value Added Tax (VAT). Citizens from countries outside the EU and Scandinavia are eligible for a VAT refund when goods purchased in Denmark are shipped to another country. VAT can be refunded at the airport upon presenting a completed VAT refund form. To achieve the VAT refund, the minimum purchase per shop must be DKK 300. There are two refund companies, offering refund services, Tax Free Worldwide and Global Blue Denmark.

Tipping
Service charges are always included in the bill and extra gratuities are not necessary, but appreciated.

Dress Code

For the dinner Thursday night, we recommend smart casual.
For the Gala dinner Friday night, we recommend business formal.
Weather changes a lot in Denmark, so make sure you bring clothes for cooler and warmer days. Also bring a sweater for the boat cruise.
